About Us
The Middlesex Middle School Quiz Bowl team was founded in 2009 by coach Ken Romeo. From then, the success of the Quiz Bowl team has grew rapidly. In the 2011-2012 season, we placed an impressive 22nd out of 547 in the Knowledge Master Open (KMO) and also placed 3rd at the Junior National Academic Championship in Washington, DC. In 2012-2013 season we placed 4th in the KMO, 1st at the Junior National Academic Chamiponships, and 7th at the Middle School National Academic Championships in Chicago, Illinois. Weekly Practice
The Quiz Bowl team starts practices on Thursdays shortly after school in the cafeteria. The team is then split up to go to other rooms with other team members to practice until 3:45 with coaches Ken Romeo, Barbara Ivey, and other teachers and volunteers. Your attendance may affect if you go to tournaments or not, and what team you are placed on in tournaments. Feel free to come any time!
Wednesday Notes/Morning and Afternoon Questions
On any morning come into the library at 7:20 to do questions. After school on most Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, Mr. Romeo runs extra practice sessions. Also, on Wednesday, there are notes sessions for science, literature, and geography/history. Your presence at those optional meetings may affect if you go to tournaments or not, and what tournament team you are placed on. If you lose your notes, they are all posted in flashcard form on Quizlet (see section below).
